Rhoda Garoogian Memorial Scholarship
The scholarship is given in remembrance of Rhoda who served as Assistant Dean and later as Acting Dean (1989-1991) during a critical juncture in what was then known as SILS (School of Information and Library Science). Enrollment had dropped below 100 students and the School had been downgraded to a department. Library schools were closing nationwide at a rapid rate.
In her brief two years, Rhoda doubled enrollment and reestablished the School. But Rhoda is most remembered for her many acts of kindness, accessibility, and dedication to students. Our Scholarship is given in her spirit that is so much a part of the School of Information (SI) tradition.
