Chapter member and Treasurer Diane Dias De Fazio was interviewed this past January for the "Break Room Chats" podcast - produced by the New Professionals Section of the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) of ALA.
From their description, "In this episode recorded at ALA Midwinter 2017 in Atlanta, Elspeth Olson and Diane Dias de Fazio speak about making one's way in the rare books world and the challenges and benefits of creating one's own leadership opportunities."

Beta Phi Mu Theta Chapter Welcomes New Initiates (2016)
Our
Initiation Ceremony & Dessert Reception took place on Friday May 17, 2016
at Pratt Manhattan Campus.
Gina Shelton, Head Librarian at Dominican College in
Orangeburg NY, gave a great talk entitled: “What You Didn’t Learn in Library
School: Tales from the Other Side”.
Gina captivated the audience with examples
from her own career and encouraged us to be confident (she even showed us some
of Amy Cuddy’s confidence-building poses). Gina graduated from Pratt’s School of
Information in 2014 and was inducted into the Theta chapter of Beta Phi Mu that
same year.

Beta Phi Mu National Honor Society looking for volunteers
The Beta Phi Mu National Honor Society is looking for Volunteers. From their newsletter:
1) One or two people to help with the Nominating Committee. Working with the BPM Past President, members of this committee help identify potential candidates for BPM Board and Officer positions and help with contacting potential candidates and information gathering.
2) Persons willing to run for the BPM Board or for an officer position -- nominations and self-nominations are welcome! For the coming election, we will need to elect a new Vice President/President Elect, a Treasurer, and an At-Large Director (Board member). We will also need to elect two Directors (Board members) at the Beta Phi Mu Business Meeting and Member Reception at ALA Annual in Chicago this summer. For more information about these positions, please see the BPM By-Laws.
3) We may also have a need for volunteers for our Scholarship Committee and the Editorial Board for our Scholars Series.
If you have any questions, or if you are interested in any of these positions, please contact us here at Beta Phi Mu Headquarters. We will answer any questions you may have, and/or direct you to a committee chair, as appropriate.
